Epic Placements is working with a long-time technology services partner to identify a hands-on IT Manager for a public-sector environment in Glendale, Colorado.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who sits comfortably between technical IT operations and technology leadership. An MSP handles much of the day-to-day help desk, device, and infrastructure management, while this person serves as the onsite technology owner — partnering with leadership and departments, holding technology vendors accountable, driving projects and strategy, and stepping into technical issues when needed.
We are not looking for a purely administrative IT manager. The right person still understands the technology, can troubleshoot, ask the right questions, challenge a vendor recommendation when necessary, and become the trusted technology resource for the organization.
What You'll Be Doing

Serve as the primary technology advisor and internal point of ownership for IT

Manage the relationship with the MSP and other technology vendors, including SLAs, escalations, service quality, projects, and deliverables

Partner with leadership and departments to understand needs and translate them into practical technology solutions

Lead technology projects, implementations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives

Support IT strategy, roadmaps, policies, governance, budgeting, procurement, licensing, and lifecycle planning

Coordinate cybersecurity, risk, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives with external partners

Review technology performance, risks, costs, and vendor recommendations and drive issues through resolution

Remain hands-on enough to troubleshoot local Windows, Microsoft 365, identity/access, endpoint, networking, and end-user issues when needed

Communicate clearly with executives, department leaders, end users, vendors, and technical teams
What We're Looking For

5+ years of progressively responsible IT experience

Experience functioning as an IT Manager, Technology Manager, IT Operations leader, or senior systems/infrastructure professional with ownership responsibilities

Experience managing an MSP, outsourced IT provider, consultants, or technology vendors

Strong technical foundation across Microsoft 365, Windows, networking, cloud services, endpoints, and enterprise IT

Ability to independently troubleshoot technology and evaluate technical recommendations

Experience leading technology projects and implementations

Strong vendor management, service-delivery, escalation, and stakeholder-management skills

Exposure to IT budgeting, procurement, contracts, cybersecurity, risk, or governance strongly preferred

Public-sector, government, municipal, or regulated-industry experience is a plus
-
Ability to work onsite in Glendale, Colorado
Preferred certifications/exposure include ITIL, Security+, Microsoft certifications, PMP, CISSP, CGCIO, NIST, CIS Controls, CJIS, or comparable frameworks.
This is a 4-month contract-to-hire opportunity paying approximately $50–$55/hour W-2, with a current targeted conversion range of $90,000–$110,000.
