Manager, IT Infrastructure and Operations

Manager, IT Infrastructure & Operations

Hybrid Cloud | Hands-On Leadership | Enterprise Modernization
Location: Denver, CO (on-site, downtown)
Salary: $160,000-180,000 + Benefit Package

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional infrastructure management role.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who still loves to build—while shaping the future of a modern, hybrid enterprise environment moving from data center ? cloud.

You’ll operate as a servant leader and technical anchor for the team: mentoring engineers, raising the bar, and stepping in directly when needed. At the same time, you’ll have a seat at the table—helping define infrastructure strategy, modernization roadmaps, and long-term architectural direction.

If you’ve been through a cloud transformation and want to do it again—this time with more ownership and influence—this is that opportunity.

What You’ll Own

Hybrid Infrastructure Leadership

  • Lead the design, operation, and evolution of a hybrid infrastructure environment (on-prem + Azure cloud)
  • Drive the transition from traditional data center models to scalable, cloud-first architecture
  • Ensure systems are resilient, secure, and built to scale

Hands-On Technical Contribution

  • Stay close to the work—this is not a “sit back and delegate” role
  • Jump in on architecture, troubleshooting, and complex system challenges
  • Act as the technical escalation point for high-impact issues

Servant Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop a multi-disciplinary infrastructure team
  • Assess team strengths, identify gaps, and elevate overall capability
  • Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Balance being a coach with being a contributor

Cloud Transformation & Strategy

  • Play a key role in data center ? cloud migration strategy and execution
  • Partner with leadership to align infrastructure with business and growth goals
  • Evaluate current systems and drive modernization initiatives

Operational Excellence

  • Own service reliability across network, systems, identity, and cloud platforms
  • Establish and evolve SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics
  • Build and refine runbooks, automation, and monitoring systems
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts

Cross-Functional Influence

  • Partner with application, security, service desk, and leadership teams
  • Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and vendor decisions
  • Act as a bridge between technical execution and business priorities

What You Bring

  • Strong background in hybrid environments and cloud migrations
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure

Network & Security Depth

  • Expertise across enterprise networking (routing, switching, VPN, SD-WAN, firewalls)
  • Experience with Palo Alto Networks (nice-to-have, highly valued)
  • Strong understanding of security architecture, identity, and access management

Core Infrastructure Systems

  • Active Directory / Entra ID
  • Virtualization and compute platforms
  • Storage, backup, and disaster recovery
  • Monitoring, automation, and infrastructure tooling

Operational & Strategic Strength

  • Experience owning infrastructure performance, reliability, and lifecycle
  • Strong grasp of incident response, root cause analysis, and prevention
  • Ability to align infrastructure decisions with long-term architectural strategy

Experience

  • ~10+ years in infrastructure / operations roles
  • ~5+ years leading teams in complex environments
  • Experience in multi-entity or shared services environments is a plus

What Success Looks Like

  • You raise the technical bar of the team while staying in the trenches
  • You help successfully modernize legacy infrastructure into cloud-native systems
  • You bring clarity, structure, and accountability to operations
  • You become a trusted voice in both technical and business conversations

Why This Role Stands Out

  • True player-coach role—not just people management
  • Real ownership over cloud transformation strategy
