Senior Systems Engineer
Senior Systems Engineer (Windows / Infrastructure)
Location: Remote (Must be based in Salt Lake City, UT area)
Compensation: $105,000 – $125,000 + Benefits
The Opportunity
This isn’t a typical systems engineer role.
You’ll be the go-to infrastructure expert inside a fast-growing security technology company — owning Windows environments, server architecture, and the systems that power real-world deployments across enterprise and government clients.
You won’t just maintain systems — you’ll design, build, troubleshoot, and evolve them in live production environments where uptime matters.
If you’re someone who wants real ownership, autonomy, and the ability to shape how systems are built — this is that role.
What You’ll Actually Do
- Own and operate Windows Server environments across multiple deployments
- Design and deploy on-prem + hybrid infrastructure architectures
- Lead server buildouts, upgrades, migrations, and virtualization efforts
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
- Work directly with client IT teams to deploy and support systems
- Build and maintain backup, recovery, and system resilience strategies
- Support real-world production systems tied to physical security platforms
- Contribute to standards, documentation, and long-term architecture decisions
You’ll spend time both:
- building new systems
- and keeping critical systems running under pressure
Tech Environment
This is a Windows-first infrastructure role with exposure to modern and evolving environments:
- Windows Server (core focus)
- Azure (cloud + hybrid environments)
- Virtualization (VMware, Azure VMs)
- Active Directory / Identity
- Backup & recovery systems
- Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, firewalls)
- Fortinet (or similar firewall technologies)
- PowerShell / scripting (nice to have)
You’ll also gain exposure to:
- enterprise security platforms (video, access control, etc.)
- hybrid cloud/on-prem system design
What They’re Looking For
- 7+ years in IT infrastructure / systems engineering
- Strong, hands-on experience with Windows Server environments
- Experience with:
- server hardware + system builds
- virtualization (VMware or Azure)
- backups, storage, and recovery
- networking fundamentals
- Comfortable working in live production environments
- Ability to own problems end-to-end with minimal oversight
- Strong communication skills working with both internal teams and client IT
What Makes This Different
- Real ownership — you’re not just another engineer on a big team
- High autonomy — solve problems your way, not from a playbook
- Variety — every client environment is different
- Hybrid future — on-prem today, cloud/migrations over time
- Growth path — opportunity to evolve into a service/technical leader
This is a role for someone who:
- likes figuring things out
- doesn’t need constant direction
- takes pride in building systems the right way
Important Notes
- Remote role, but must be based in Salt Lake City area
- Occasional in-office or field exposure as the team grows
- This is a hands-on engineering role, not just support
