Our client seeks an experienced infrastructure engineer to support its growing technology team. An infrastructure engineer’s role is to ensure the platform maintains a high standard of stability and excellence. Working in conjunction with our engineering team and data scientists, it is the responsibility of the infrastructure engineer to support IT functions including AWS resource provisioning, resource tuning, opportunities for automation, and IT security management day-to-day.


This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer.


The Infrastructure Engineer is generally responsible for:


Improving Data Management Architecture

● Supporting the engineering team with refactoring of legacy systems surrounding data ingestion and data consolidation to improve stability, speed, redundancy, and scalability

● Continuous improvement of the AWS infrastructure tooling relative to data replay, alerting, and monitoring when dealing with large volumes of data

● Servicing business units, with particular attention to data science and leveraging automation for quickly scaling staging database environments with cloned production data, so large queries can be run without causing drag on production resources

● Cost optimization: reducing overhead for critical databases, applications, and environments


IT security

● Working under the direction of the Head of Security Operations and CTO, enhancing existing policies and procedures and enforcing compliance relative to user provisioning, IAM, change control, firewall rules, and mobile device management using JAMF

● Familiarity with protected healthcare data in the context of HIPAA and HITRUST

● Development and refinement of data pipeline components to support security requirements and compliance

● Participation in governance structures to oversee change control, policies and procedures, network security, and data privacy


System/Application Stewardship

● Deep familiarity with Python, Postgres, ETL tooling, and file transfer

● Deep familiarity with AWS tooling including Airflow, Redshift, Lambda, ECS, and message alerting/monitoring tools that are effective dealing with large volumes of data



● Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff

● Ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between the Chief Technology Officer, Head of Security Operations, the data science teams, and engineering teams

● Skills to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through and with others

● Ability to build strong and sustainable relationships



● Background in Terraform and Kubernetes
