Reinsurance Retrocession Specialist I

Summary:

Analyzes, prepares and inputs client company premium, claims, enforce and reserve information by using treaty, statutory and IFRS guidelines. Ensures that the client data is reasonable and accurate, including communication with internal and external clients to resolve inconsistencies and errors. Identifies and clears suspense items in a timely manner. This information is used in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting.

Builds productive working relationships with client companies to understand client data and business retroceded to resolve variances and inconsistencies in data sent and received. Initiates communications with clients to resolve complex problems and determine best practices for reporting retrocession business using treaty and industry knowledge. Provides accurate data for inclusion in financial reports.

Acts as subject matter expert. Participates in special projects (such as variance analysis and premium accrual work, etc.), recommends solutions and communicates significant results to management and other team members to improve accuracy of financial reports.

Adheres to MAR compliance protocol. Identifies areas to improve efficiency and provides recommendations to management for constructive changes in procedures and processes to improve internal controls, department efficiency and audit compliance.

Required skills:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and manage internal and external demands of position with only minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to review and analyze business reports
  • Ability to exercise sound discretion with regards to decision-making and resolving non-standard situations independently
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new applications
  • Basic MS Office: Word
  • Intermediate MS Office: Excel
  • Experience with using the internet and e-mail
